Early Bloomer

by Eric Burgoyne

Nauseating scent

of blooming corpse

flowers

Surely shunned

but for fetid

fawning fans

Relishing rotting

flesh odor

putrid pus

Celebrating early

arrival of a

doppelganger

Rolling onstage

charisma surpassing

intelligence

Masking

malignant

immaturity

Fear of failure

trumping intellectual

preparation

Nit, wit

feigned grit

gumption

Fascination

sans

rumination

Early blooming

hastening

early death
