Nourishment

By KG Newman

For breakfast I smooch my newborn

seventeen times. Lunch is a hug

with my son. For pre-dinner

I take my daughter to coffee,

hold my coffee. I’m more

of a water guy. Mix it

with the formula. Power the dam

that powers our house, where

I walk through on quiet afternoons,

just before school’s out, before

daycare expires forever, turning on

lights in all the bedrooms.
